Conceived as a joint vision by the clinical, participatory and art commissioning functions of the Royal London Hospital, the design brief was to provide a range of sensory and interactive experiences for patients under 18 and their visiting families. Two very distinct spaces of ‘escape and wonder’ were created: an internal oversized living room and an outdoor enchanted forest, both allowing children to enter spaces where the seemingly familiar becomes magical.
